Launch of the "TDB Digital ID issuing service Type A"
Teikoku Databank received a license to launch specified authentication services for its certification service that supports the Electronic Bidding Core System
Teikoku Databank, Ltd. ("TDB") garnered approval on February 5 for providing specified authentication services based on regulations regarding the Law Concerning Electronic Signatures
and Certification Services, and launched the electronic authentication service "TDB Digital ID issuing service Type A" that supports the Electronic Bidding Core System on February 6, 2003.
As part of structural reforms in public works projects realized through further progress in the transparency and competitiveness in public bidding, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, with strict enforcement of the law on the appropriateness of the public works tender agreement, has launched its electronic bidding service in October 2001 with the purpose of promoting IT, which is its foundation.
This service was a newly conceived service by TDB in the wake of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's electronic bidding making the transition to the electronic bidding core system in April 2003. Until 2002 TDB has been the only certificate authority to issue Digital IDs (IC cards) for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's electronic bidding services. Based on trust and past results, TDB has realized a service highly useful for the user.

1DIssuance of the Digital ID (IC Card)
TDB stores Digital ID data on IC cards and issues them to individuals belonging to companies and personal businesses (representatives, administrators, and employees). In the future, these certificates will be also available for electronic bidding by public organizations (central government, local authorities, etc.) that use of the electronic bidding core system.
2DSales of the IC Card Reader/Writer
TDB provides 3 types of "IC Card Reader/Writer" necessary to use IC cards.
(USB connection, PCMCIA connection, Serial Connection)
